Slightly more up –maker than the traditional burger ,this tasty recipe contains a delicious surprise. The lightly melted stilton cheese encased in burger is absolutely delicious.
450/1lb/4 cup minced beef
1 onion, finely chopped
1 celery stick, chopped
5ml/1 tsp dried mixed herbs
5ml/1 tsp prepared mustard
50g/2oz/ ½ cup stilton cheese , crumbled
4 burger buns
Salt and ground black pepper
1 place the minced beef in a bowl together with the onion and celery. Season well.
2 stir in the herbs and mustard bringing all the ingredients together to from a firm mixture.
Divide the mixture into eight equal portions. Place four on a chopping board and flatten each one slightly.
4 Share the crumbled cheese between the burgers, placing a little in the centre of each.
5 Flatten the remaining and place on top . mould the mixture to encase the crumbled cheese and shape into four burgers.
6 To cook place the burgers on a microwave proof roasting rack and microwave, uncovered, for 6-7 minutes, turning over once. Leave to sand for 2-3 minutes. Alternatively ,for a browner and crisper result, preheat a microwave browning dish or special microwave burger cooker according to he manufacturer’ s instructions. Add the burger pressing them down well on to the base , and microwave on High for 5-5 ½ minute , truing over once. If using a microwave burgers individually ,read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions, particularly for timing . Leave to stand for 2-3 minutes .serve in burger buns or pitta bread with salad leaves and a relish of your choice.
